ActivHealth has lined up a new marketing and sales channel for its Web-based personal health management system with an agreement with the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

The Nashville-based company's PHD Network includes a personal health assessment, disease risk profiles, and lifestyle and health information.

Developed with Duke University Medical Center , which owns a stake in ActivHealth, the Web-based program focuses on health education, stress management, nutrition, exercise and fitness to identify a member's individual needs and select a personal wellness program.

ActivHealth.com and Duke University Medical Center announce the formation of PHD (Personal Health Development) Network -- setting the new standard in health and wellness education -- now online and available by subscription. Try a FREE SAMPLE lesson.

The PHD Network offers a personalized, interactive approach to wellness education with the latest in Internet technology available here -- only on the ActivHealth.com web site. Covering the five essential areas of wellness -- exercise, nutrition, stress management, health education, and personal development -- topics in the PHD Network are written or approved by Duke University Medical Center health professionals.

Subscribers have access to an individualized program of wellness topics that are based on the results of a health risk screening filled out during enrollment. This personalized approach allows each participant to address his or her individual wellness and health risk issues. Each topic contains essential information, tips and suggestions applicable for controlling or improving the health risk in question.

Topics are interactive -- meaning the learning process is enhanced through the active participation of the subscriber in the presentation of the topic content, such as:

This results in making the information and suggestions as meaningful as possible for each individual, while increasing recall and subsequent use of the tips and suggestions.

Participants who enroll in conjunction with a sponsoring organization -- e.g., employer, health or medical provider, third party payer, fitness center, hotel or resort, school, or other such entity - will also be involved in incentive programs. These incentive programs reward participation in the PHD Network based on points earned for lessons completed -- similar to "frequent flier miles." (See your employer or sponsor for information regarding the details of how this will apply for you. If you do not yet belong to a group which offers PHD Network Incentives, see the bar at left -- "Why Do Groups Join" -- for more information.)
